Run Zooma Texas Half Marathon (or Relay, 10k, 5k) + Giveaway

On my unscientific, completely subjective yet always spot-on scale of race rating, ZOOMA Women’s Race Series ranks really, really high – a 10+! ZOOMA love isn’t mine alone – even Shape Magazine names it one of The Top 10 Women’s Races! While ZOOMA puts on women-centric running events all around the country, but I must say to run ZOOMA Texas race (happening March 10, 2018 just outside of Austin) is near and dear to my heart. Mild Central Texas spring weather, gorgeous countryside (think pecan groves, bluebells and views of the Colorado river), and loads of Lone Star State hospitality fuel some of the fondness.
After ZOOMA Texas being on hiatus for a couple years, it’s ZOOMA Texas is BACK ON at the Lost Pines Hyatt Resort and BETTER THAN EVER. To celebrate, I’m hosting a GIVEAWAY for a free race registration to any distance race (Half, Half Relay, 10k or 5k) in ZOOMA Texas on March 10th AND some (literally) supportive swag from a sponsor – winner’s choice of bra and undies from Knix Wear. So, as I hinted, ZOOMA races are girls’ weekend getaways (invite your sister, mother or best running friend!) in awe inspiring locations featuring beautiful courses and one-of-a kind races for women of all ages. Who couldn’t use some R&R&R (running, rest and relaxation) in a beautiful venue. It’s difficult to say what the “best” thing is when you run ZOOMA Texas is, everything is awesome! Let’s start with the run first — there is something for everyone including a half marathon, half marathon relay, 10K, 5K and kids’ run.
For those of you who have run ZOOMA Texas before may still remember (and be telling war stories) of the roller coaster of hills on this race – the area is not called Texas Hill Country for naught! Good news (for most), the course has been reworked to be noticeably flatter (still some ups and downs) – the Half Marathon is now a less-hilly double loop that highlights the local scenery to its best.
This is my 6th year to run ZOOMA Texas and just as many years to be an ambassador for this race brand that puts women and having fun first
Of course, guys are welcome to enter and run . . . especially to support their partner. Just tell them to let the girls win – which they will, there are always some amazing runners toeing the line.
That being said, ZOOMA Texas is a race for ALL ages, abilities and running experiences, the focus is on empowerment, supporting one another other and celebrating living life well! I can tell you, although I’ve actually WON the race before and placed top 3 numerous times, my most enduring memories have been 1) the two-way cheering and high-fiving between me and other runners as we passed each other on a section where the incoming pass those still outgoing (so much energy); 2) the special memories made taking my mom along for the weekend, and 3) celebrating with new and old friends at all the pre-and post-race parties.
WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU RUN ZOOMA TEXAS:
EXPO (presented by Knix) + WELCOME PARTY: Pick up your race packet and shop, hang out and have fun with your crew. From 5pm-8pm the Expo transforms to a Welcome Party with tons of giveaways and prizes, pasta (ticket purchase required), and wine!
RUNNING: Entry into the Half Marathon, Half Relay, 10k or 5k that takes place on grounds of Hyatt Regency Lost Pines. There is also a Kids’ Race following the half-marathon.
PARTY: Celebrate your run with an unbelievable Post-Race party on the banks of the Colorado River. Mimosas, food, massage, recovery yoga, shopping, live music and tons of fun included! You earned it!
SWAG. Each runner receives a premium swag bag with a women’s cut shirt, tote bag, socks (features!), finisher medal and hat (half marathon only). Registration also includes free photos (whoohoo)!
SUNRISE YOGA: Start your Sunday morning with yoga on the lawn of the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort
MORE: I heard there is a shakeout trail run on Sunday morning and also, must say from personal experience that the weekend brunch at the hotel (on your own dime) is AMAZING. The resort pool with “crooked” river for tubing is so relaxing and there are many other hotel activities, like horse-back riding, s’more making, etc (check with the concierge).
