How to Run Races During Inflation

It’s race season, for some your races are already lined up, fees paid and you’re ready to rock and roll. For others, you may be wanting to run races but due to the inflation (gas prices increasing and other fees increasing), you’re not sure if you can afford to run races and travel. So how do you continue to do what you love during the inflation and continue to keep your pockets happy?

Here are 5 top things to make sure you do to help offset expensive races

  1. Plan Ahead

One thing about races is there is a period when the race fees will be low. Typically, after the race, there will be an introductory rate a year in advance where you can get super low prices. In order to plan, you must look ahead and plan out the upcoming year. Now I know it’s hard to plan in advance but losing $15 dollars for a race versus paying $75-$100 is far worth it. So, get those calendars out and start planning for the year in advance.

  1. Bundle up your races

There are several races that offer a deal if you bundle up the races altogether. You get 5 races for the price of one. In doing this you can save money on the overall race fees and still enjoy running more than 1 or 2 races.

  1. Travel Agents are the Best

If you’re wanting to travel to another country or want to save on plane tickets, hotels, etc. seek out a travel agent that can bundle all of this together. Going through a travel agent can help you to save in overall cost and you can set up payment arrangements to pay over time.

  1. Traveling with friends is so much better

Traveling with friends is so much better and cheaper. Find some friends who are wanting to run the same race, carpool, get a hotel together and save money. You’ll enjoy racing and time with friends while saving money.

  1. Relay Race anyone?

Relay races are so much fun and can be inexpensive. Find a relay race or Ragnar race where you can enjoy the company of your friends, have fun and save on the overall cost of the race fees, travel, and hotel.

Racing can be so much fun and taxing on your pockets. Try out these 5 tips to help you stay ahead, continue to do what you love, and not feel depleted from your wallet.
