Black Girls RUN! Selected for Facebook Community Leadership Program
Black Girls RUN! is excited to announce that we have been selected as fellow in the first cohort of the Facebook Community Leadership Program.
Facebook created the Facebook Community Leadership Program to empower leaders who are building communities around the world. Today, Facebook announce the 115 people (representing 46 countries) who have been selected into the program as community leaders in residence, fellows and youth participants.
Since announcing the program in February, Facebook received more than 6,000 applications from all over the world. A selection committee, which included employees as well as community experts from outside of Facebook, reviewed each application so we could identify leaders with a strong, clear and committed vision for their community.
Black Girls RUN! and new CEO/Owner, Jay Ell Alexander, will be participating in this year long program. The first meetup is October 9-12 in Menlo Park, CA! It is my goal to pour these resources into the BGR! Foundation philanthropic efforts, create a BGR! app and begin our workforce development pipeline with this opportunity. When I tell you this is HUGE! It is HUGE!
With this putting us on an international stage, I really also hope to announce in 2019 our trademark being internationally registered, so we can begin the deployment of international groups (and establish more U.S. cities) next year with professional development opportunities and training to empower more women in the fitness/running industry.
We will keep you all posted as details develop! But, as always thank you for your prayers and support for the BGR! Movement!
