Baltimore Women’s Classic is Just Around the Corner!

If you haven’t done so already, check out the Baltimore Women’s Classic, a women’s-only 5k in Baltimore (of course) and a race where we have always enjoyed a large turnout, making for a great gathering of BGR. Register for the Race Here  Registration costs $40 until June 16, then the price jumps up to $45, so get in now before bump.

This race is great for ladies of all ages and fitness levels! As a women’s-only event, we get to practice our values of sisterhood unity, being an inspiration to others, and women’s empowerment. Being part of such a large gathering of physically and mentally strong women of character and perseverance is a wonderful feeling.  Part of the proceeds goes to benefit the House of Ruth and their intimate partner violence centers, helping thousands of battered women and their children find the safety and security that so many of us take for granted.

The race begins at Rash Field by the Inner Harbor. Packet pickup starts at 6:30 am, and there are several garages within a mile of the race village. The race promoters are advertising guaranteed parking when you use Spot Hero, and you get 50% off the drive-up day-of ratesBaltimore Women’s Classic 5K SpotHero Parking Page

Plenty of portable restrooms and handwashing stations are available in the race village. There is also a bag check – your bib is your ticket to pick-up your bag afterward. They suggest bags that aren’t too big – like the common drawstring bags you see.

Then at 7:30 the program starts! Kristy Breslin from WJZ is the MC.  And as if her welcome remarks and National Anthem don’t have you super-motivated already, you get are led in a fantastic pre-race warmup.

When it’s time to race you’ll make your way to the start.  Since everyone can’t start at the same time, you are assigned to a wave. On your bib there will be letters that correspond to your wave. When the time comes look for the big signs indicating the corral for your wave and go there.

The run itself is awesome, and more so because you’re in such great company with so many women and girls. It starts on Key Highway, and then goes around the Federal Hill neighborhood.  Half-way into mile 2 you’ll see the start line again, which might make you think you’re done, but just wait – the best part of the course is still to come! The final stretch of the course takes you on the Harbor Promenade, with beautiful views of the Inner Harbor and Downtown Baltimore!  Cross the finish line and collect your rose, cooling towel, and finishers medal.

The expo afterward has plenty of vendors, giveaways, and race refreshments and music. This year you can even get an adult beverage! It’s going to be a summer day, so be sure to use that towel, grab some watermelon, and soak in the experience.

If you have time, remember that you are in the Inner Harbor! There are plenty of places to go afterward for lunch with the family, or just to show off your new bling.

This race has always been great, so we look forward to seeing you there!
