What does running the New York City Marathon mean to you?
Running the TCS New York City Marathon is more than crossing a finish line—it’s proving to myself that fear doesn’t get the final say. I’ve completed half marathons and triathlons, but this is my first 26.2. Every mile is a step toward becoming the woman I’ve always had the potential to be.
What are you most looking forward to about this race?
I was born and raised in New York City, and after losing both of my parents, I never imagined I’d have a reason to come home. Running through all five boroughs will be a journey through my memories—the neighborhoods, the people, and the life they gave me. I’ll be carried by those memories and by the energy of the greatest spectators in the world.
Why Black Girls RUN!?
Black Girls RUN! changed my life. Through the love and support of my Sole Sistahs, I transformed from 330 pounds to 170 pounds—and found confidence I never knew I had. This isn’t just a running group; it’s a sisterhood that reminds Black women we are stronger than we think. Every donation helps me get to the starting line, and every mile I run is for every woman who’s ever wondered if she’s capable of more.
