What does running the Chicago Marathon mean to you?
Running the Chicago Marathon isn’t just another race for me; it’s a statement. It represents discipline on the days I didn’t feel like showing up, and commitment when no one was watching. While I do have a time goal, this marathon is more than a finish time. It’s about honoring my journey mile by mile.
What are you most looking forward to about this race?
For this race I’m mostly looking forward to being with other runners on the streets of Chicago. Going from watching runners run to now being an actual participant is super exciting. Not to mention I will be the first one in my family to ever run in a world major marathon earning one of the ever so coveted six stars.
Why Black Girls RUN!?
Running with and for Black Girls RUN! gives running a deeper meaning. More than logging distance-it’s about community, culture, and connection. In spaces where running hasn’t always felt inclusive, BGR! creates an environment where you don’t have to explain yourself. Running with BGR! turns my individual journey into a shared movement.
