Margarette Donnay

Margarette Donnay has been a proud member of Black Girls RUN! since 2018, but her running journey changed forever in 2019 when her husband passed away. George was her biggest supporter—never missing a race and carefully pinning her bib to her shirt as part of their shared ritual. After his passing, the joy she once found in running was gone. However, her Black Girls RUN! Dallas Sole Sisters showed up for her in an unforgettable way—they attended his funeral, stood by her side, and encouraged her to keep going. Their love and persistence helped guide her back to movement when she needed it most.

With their support, she gradually returned—not only to running, but to a new level of endurance through triathlons, incorporating swimming and cycling into her journey. Born and raised in New York City, she always said that if she ever ran a marathon, it would be the New York City Marathon—her one and done. Now, to run it while representing the Black Girls RUN! Foundation is deeply meaningful. This sisterhood has held her accountable, lifted her through grief, and reminded her of her strength. Running through all five boroughs, across the streets that shaped her, will be more than a race; it will be a powerful, full-circle moment of healing, purpose, and pride.

Tarsha Jacobs

Tarsha Jacobs is a native Floridian who moved to the Central Florida area to attend college and never left. She has been married for 32 years to a man who happily supports her thirst for adventure from the sidelines, has two amazing sons, two beautiful daughters in love and two sweet little grand dogs. Tarsha didn’t start running until the age of forty-two, but what began as a simple goal to finish her first 5K quickly became a lifechanging passion. At that race, which was her very first race ever, she met membersof Black Girls RUN!, a moment that forever altered her path. Finding her community with the Black Girls RUN! Orlando chapter led to improving her health, experiencing an empowering sisterhood, and making a commitment to a lifelong journey of movement and purpose.

Through BGR! Nation, Tarsha discovered her calling as a leader and advocate. She has since become a registered yoga teacher, a certified running coach, an ultramarathoner, and an Ironman athlete. She was honored to serve as a Black Girls RUN! Orlando Ambassador from 2018–2020 and is currently serving her second term, which began in 2024. As a woman business owner and endurance athlete, Tarsha is deeply passionate about helping women break through barriers— professionally and physically—whether in the boardroom or on the pavement. She is honored to represent Black Girls RUN! at the New York City Marathon. She lives and leads inspired by Hebrews 12:1: “…and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”

Brazand R. Thomas

My name is Brazand Thomas, also known as “Blaze,” and running has become both my outlet and my purpose. I’ve spent the last six years building strength, discipline, and resilience one mile at a time. I’m proud to be a member for five years and an Ambassador for Black Girls RUN! Columbia, SC, where I’m passionate about uplifting and inspiring women, especially those in underrepresented communities to prioritize their health and embrace movement. I’m also a proud mother of three young men, and they are my daily motivation to keep pushing forward.

In 2024, I faced a major setback when I broke my ankle six months before the Chicago Marathon. That moment tested my patience and perseverance in ways I never expected, but  it didn’t stop me. Now, I’ve set my sights on the New York City Marathon, where I’m determined to prove that finishing a marathon at my own pace, strong and injury free is not only possible, it’s powerful. Every step I take is part of a bigger journey, one of healing, growth, and purpose.
