Introducing BGR! Sole Sista Team 2024-2025 – Part 2
Meet Black Girls RUN! brand influencers, Sole Sista.
Meet Whitney Foster
My name is Coach Whitney R. Foster and I currently reside in Atlanta, GA. I work in finance by day and have had a passion for running for over 10 years. 3 fun facts about me is that I am an RRCA certified run coach, Atlanta Track Club Ambassador, and Abbott World Marathon Major Six Star finisher.
Meet Glenda “Taz” Benjamin
I’m Glenda “Taz” Benjamin from Tampa Florida. I started my fitness journey in 2015 after battling high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and being overweight . I work as a cardiac specialist which allows me to travel throughout the United States which was the contributing factor of me being morbidly obese . My highest weight was 317 lbs when I finally decided I had to do something. I will admit I didn’t do it all by myself, I had help along the way on this journey. Move forward two years later I joined BGR San Antonio and what I didn’t know was how joining BGR would change my life. Today I’m healthy, fit, and try motivation other to take control of their health.
Meet Veronica Brevard
As an accountant at a large financial institution, Veronica takes her job seriously, but she also knows how to have fun. Whether she’s running in a marathon or planning her next big trip, she always finds time for adventure and making memories with her loved ones. She is dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother!
Veronica became a member of BGR Dallas in 2014. That same year she ran and competed her first half marathon and marathon races. Joining the group has allowed great relationships and benefits in her health journey. She is currently pursuing her Abbott World Major Marathon six-star medal.
Meet Trenn Moore
Trenn joined BGR Nation in 2012, when she signed up for the BGR Newsletter! There wasn’t a chapter in her area at the time, so she became a virtual member of the crew in her hometown, BGR Chicago in 2014. After relocating in 2016, she became a member of BGR Phoenix, where she currently serves as a Run Coordinator. Trenn loves being on the pavement and has run countless 5ks, several 10ks and two half marathons. A recent retiree, Trenn volunteers with several non profits, including Girls On The Run, ImpactOne Breast Cancer Foundation, and House of Refuge.
You can always catch Trenn on the pavement with a huge smile, a poppin’ lippie and an encouraging word, whether you’re connecting in person or online.
Meet Erica Darthard
I’m Erica! I’m from Columbus, Ohio. I started running with Black Girls Run! in 2016 when I turned 40 years old. I completed my first half marathon (Columbus Half) that year and few a more since, Canton Half being the latest in 2023. I started running originally as a means to lose weight. I continue to run for my mental health. It keeps me grounded and sane! A good run really calms my mind. I’m a middle-of-the-pack runner mostly using the run/walk method. I also love to give back to the running community by volunteering for races whether it’s handing out medals, passing out water, or cheering the runners on.
My motto is “Find something you love and do it!”
I have a 23-year-old son. I work in Human Resources for The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. I love all things Prince. A New Edition concert never gets old to me. I love sunflowers. One of my favorite movies is Coming to America. I know all the words and laugh like it’s my first time seeing it.
I’m excited to serve another year as a BGR! Sole Sista Ambassador!
Meet Jasmine Moore
I’m Jasmine Moore, a business intelligence professional who kicked off my running journey in 2022 to prioritize my health. Starting with 5K races, I found a thrill in each finish line and gradually worked my way up to conquering a full marathon. Running has become a source of accomplishment and serenity.
In January, I had the pleasure of meeting and running with the wonderful ladies of BGR! Cincinnati, who welcomed me with open arms! Now, as a brand ambassador, I’m excited to contribute to promoting BGR’s mission of encouraging and motivating our fellow sisters to embrace an active and healthy lifestyle.
Meet Chelsea Tornga
I was born in Uganda, Africa, adopted and grew up in a family of 21 brothers and sisters from all over the world. After 15 1/2 years in Property Management, I’m currently running my Photography business.
I was never a runner. That was until I experienced a major surgery and a few blood transfusions years ago. After the procedure, I decided to make a change in my lifestyle. I initially started with walking, and then came across Black Girls Run on IG & in my city, Tacoma.
I was absolutely shocked to know that they were so many women of color, that looked like me out and being so active. Not only that, but they were having soo much fun doing it. After joining BGR Seattle-Tacoma, I eventually decided to give running a try. It was a challenge at first, but I eventually fell in love with it & the connection between other women in my city’s BGR crew. Running has made me feel empowered and gives me a sense of confidence and accomplishment. It also helps me to manage my stress levels, gives me more energy. Now, I run on a regular basis and it has become a part of my weekly routine.
I’m a people person so I always look forward to group runs with my Seattle-Tacoma BGR crew.
